Locke Vinetti is a high school junior, disenchanted and more
than a little hostile. In fact, for years he's had a lousy social
life because of a problem with his anger - a force he calls
'the venom.' Ever since he was eight years old and bit off a
classmates's nose, he's been something of a loner. But all that
is about to change when he goes out with his one friend, Randall,
to meet some of Randall's crew hanging out at the riverside park.
Because in addtion to meeting his kindred spirit, Casey, who has his
own problems with his own kind of venom, Locke meets the spikey blue
fairy-haircut Goth girl of his dreams. And if their relationship is going to
work, he knows he has to rid himself of the venom once and for all.
Interspersed with the comic book adventures of the fantasy anti-hero
alter-ego Locke has invented for himself, Venomous is a fast-paced,
funny, and ferocious read about one teenage boy's struggle with his inner demons.

'A funny, feirce teen novel about a young man who needs to learn to control the powerful
anger inside himself-a power he calls 'the venom' '-Simon And Shuster

As grandaughters of a late, famous literary critic, the beautiful red headed
sisters capture the attention of the New Yorker magazine, which promptly
features them in a glamorous spread shot by a world famous photographer.
The fashion world sits up and takes notice and in no time flat, three nobodies
from Brooklyn have been proclaimed the new 'IT' girls.

But with no parental advice - Mom is a former beauty queen living vicariously
through her daughters, while Dad is nowhere to be found - the three girls find themselves
easy prey to the venal forces of show business. Posing in every hot fashion magazine,
tangling with snarling fashionistas and soul-sucking agents, hitting A-list parties and skipping
school, the sister' rise to fame begins to unhinge them all. When the youngest - who
never wanted to be a model to begin with - does an off-broadway play, she ironically
begins to outshine the others, creating a vicious rivalry between the girls and
prompting a virtual breakdown in their quiet, neglected brother.

'Rebeck shines...her insider's look at the theater world is  spot on... The crackling
satire and scene-stealing secondaries carry the book.' - Publishers Weekly

'Playwright Rebeck's first novel is a wickedly enjoyable expos of modern celebrity; the cruel
power wielded by fashionistas, PR minders, agents, paparazzi, Hollywood stars and
entourages...' - Kirkus

Based on the true story of the Pook family in the 1920's, living in a remote
area of the Kaipara Harbour, north of Auckland. Beautifully written, the
story begins as a family of eight siblings are left alone for a week whilst their
parents finally go away to get married. Fourteen-year-old Tom is left in charge
and must ensure all the daily tasks are done, as well as keeping the family
fishing buisness running, and taking care of the other children with the help
10 year old Mary. Life is tough, and daily dramas ensue not without humour!
But it is not until the parents return that we really discover what a hard
taskmaster Dad is. A fascinating, and often exciting, insight in to life in the
not-so-distant past which will astonish today's kids.
