Membership

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Joining the Library entitles you to borrow items from Rotorua Library and the Mobile Library. Membership is available to Rotorua and Bay of Plenty residents and ratepayers and to visitors to the area. 

Join the Library

1. Find the membership type that best suits you below and follow the link to join the library.

2. To complete your registration and receive your card provide signed ID and proof of your current ​address to staff at the Rotorua Library or Mobile Library. If you are under 18, you need to be accompanied by your parent/guardian and your parent/guardian needs to provide signed ID and proof of current address.


 

​Rotorua Residents and Ratepayers ​ ​

Adult
(18 and over)
  • Provide signed ID and proof of your current address.
  • Free membership.

​Children/Youth
(13-17)
  • Your parent/guardian needs to come in with you to complete your registration.
  • Your parent/guardian needs to produce their current Rotorua Library card or provide signed ID and proof of current address.
  • Free membership.
  • At age 18, you will need to complete your own Adult registration.

Child (0-12)

  • Your parent/guardian needs to come in with you to complete your registration.
  • Your parent/guardian needs to produce their current Rotorua Library card or provide signed ID and proof of current address.
  • Free membership.

​Housebound Borrower

  • If you are unable to visit the main library or the Mobile Library due to illness or infirmity, you may be eligible to register as a Housebound Borrower.
  • This entitles you to receive packs of books on a fortnightly basis from the library delivered to your residence.
  • ​​This is a free service made possible by the support of volunteer drivers.

​​Class or
Organisation Card
  • ​​​​​If you are a teacher at a school or pre-school centre, you may be eligible​ for a Class Card or and Organisation Card. To apply and read special terms and conditions click on the appropriate form.​


 

 

 

​​Bay of Plenty Residents ​ ​

OneCard

(Kawerau, Opotiki, Taupō, Western Bay of Plenty and Whakatane)

  • Your current library card can be used.
  • Free membership.
  • Must return books to Library they are borrowed from.​

Reciprocal
(Tauranga)

  • ​Provide signed ID and proof of your current address OR provide current library card.
  • Free membership.
  • Must return books to Library they are borrowed from.​

Subscription
  • NZ resident.
  • Provide signed ID and proof of your current address.
  • $50/year membership.     ​

​Visitor
  • Short-term visitor.
  • Provide signed ID.
  • $50 membership ($40.00 refundable on return of all items borrowed).
