As well as being Valentine's Day, Tuesday 14 February is Library Lovers' Day in New Zealand and Australia. Rotorua Library will be celebrating the love of books, reading and libraries on Library Lover's Day and for the rest of February.

Library staff have been getting ready for Library Lovers' day for some time and are looking forward to sharing their love of libraries with other library lovers. They will be dressing in romantic attire for the day and books by authors that they love will be on display in the library and on the library website.
For the rest of the month of February, library users will be able to find and share literary love notes in library books, check out books that are loved by library staff, suggest books that they love and have their say on what they love about libraries.
Library users can write a note on a heart saying what they love about libraries and add it to our Library Lovers' Day display. Members of the public are also invited to share what they love about libraries on social media using the hashtag #LibraryLovers
"We know there are plenty of Library Lovers in our community and we hope they will get involved and show us what they love about libraries and reading" says Marketing and Communications Coordinator Sandra Quinn.
Over 1000 people visit Rotorua Library each day for many different reasons. As well as a place to borrow books, DVDs and magazines, the library offers internet access, resources for genealogy and other research, community drop-in sessions, meeting rooms, events, computer classes, newspapers, places to read or chat and the incredibly popular Lego Club. Library services are also accessed via the Mobile Library, Housebound and Pounamu Pukapuka services and the eLibrary online.
Two further events organised around the Love Libraries, Books and Reading theme are aimed at magazine readers and those who don't particularly love reading.
Get to Know Zinio sessions will be held from 10am-noon on Friday 17 and 24 February. This is a chance for magazine lovers to pop in and talk with library staff about the new free, digital magazine service, Zinio for Libraries.
Literacy Rotorua is holding a drop in chat session on Tuesday 21 February from 10am-noon. This is an opportunity for adults who have trouble with reading, writing or maths, and their families and friends, to find out about the services Literacy Rotorua offer.
