Reuse Recycle Refabulous

In the Art Space - Recycle Reuse Refabulous

The feature exhibition in the Art Space this month is Recycle Reuse Refabulous

Art works in this exhibition have been created by our very own Heritage & Research Team Leader, Ani Sharland. The works are a nod to extending the life of an everyday object that we take for granted, the humble plastic shopping bag.

“The disposal of these bags impacts the environment, causing damage to marine life and to the natural cycles of the environment. Plastic pollution has become a global threat to the environment. The statistics show a grim reality” says Ani.

Ani’s work endeavours to show that we can reuse these bags, albeit for a limited time, in another creative sphere.

Ani does not sell her artwork but creates for the sheer enjoyment of it.

Toi Tangata is a display space especially for local, amateur artists to exhibit their art. There is no charge but you do need to book ahead. If you would like to show your work in Toi Tangata, Contact Us or visit our Meeting Rooms and Display Opportunities page for more information.
