Stars and Planets School Holiday Activities

Have some out of this world fun these holidays!

Out of this world fun is on offer these School Holidays at Rotorua Library for children and their parents and guardians.

Each of the activities in the Stars and Planets School Holiday Programme has a space theme and there are plenty of opportunities to learn and create while you have fun.

Bookings for activities opened on Saturday 1 July and many of the activities are already fully booked. There are still a few places left in the DIY Moon Rocks session for under fives on Tuesday 11 July at 10.30am and the Kip McGrath Education Centre Lego session on Thursday 20 July at 10.30am but you will need to get in quick.

You can view details of the full programme and book online here.

A highlight in the programme these holidays is the Matariki Star Search 2017 Finale at 6pm on Wednesday 19 July at the Sir Howard Morrison Performing Arts Centre. Thirteen talented acts have been selected through auditions to go on to this year's Finale and the event will be a spectacular night out for families, friends and lovers of music and performance. Entry is free but tickets are required as numbers are limited. Tickets are available from Rotorua Library, Ngā Pūmanawa e Waru and the Sir Howard Morrison Performing Arts Centre.

For more information and news about the auditions and finalists visit our Matariki Star Search 2017 page.

We are also encouraging children to enjoy stepping into other worlds by reading these holidays. If children read a book they enjoy, they can tell others about it by adding a star to our "Rotorua Reading Stars" display or share a review of a book they have enjoyed.

Recommended reads for those who want to find out more about Stars and Planets will also be available in the library throughout the holidays.

We are counting down the days until the fun begins and hope to see you at the library these holidays!
