Community input wanted to provide direction for ongoing progress
Rotorua has made a lot of progress as a district in recent years and to progress further we need to refresh our 2030 vision.
“The Rotorua 2030 vision developed by Rotorua Lakes Council in partnership with the community set an enduring pathway forward for our district,” Rotorua Mayor Steve Chadwick says.
“In the past three years the focus was on areas needing urgent attention. It’s now time to write the next chapter of Rotorua 2030 and we want the community to help us do that.
“Vision 2030 – The Rotorua Way will ensure we focus on what will make a difference for our district and our people.”
Identifying what’s special about Rotorua and what the district’s strengths are will be key to setting the direction for this council term. Opportunities that will help build on Rotorua’s strengths also need to be identified.
“This work will help Council identify projects and initiatives that will help us achieve our shared goals for Rotorua,” the mayor says.
“Rotorua needs to be a place for everyone so it’s important people get involved and have their say.”
Elected members and some key stakeholders have done some preliminary work for the community to consider.
Feedback, ideas and input are being sought and people will have a number of different ways to have their say including through council’s new online platform Let’s Talk/Korero Mai.
This is where you will find all the information you need about Vision 2030 – The Rotorua Way, including a discussion document outlining what this is all about, what council wants the community to consider and how people can have input.
People will be able to share their stories, share ideas, take a survey and register for updates.
People will also be able to email or write to council and there will be opportunities to speak to elected members about the Rotorua 2030 vision refresh at various events. You’ll be able to find out which events by keeping an eye on updates on Let’s Talk/Korero Mai. Information on The Rotorua Way and a box for feedback and submissions is available at Rotorua Library.
Feedback and input needs to be with council by 27 March.
