ToiTangatalogo250[1].jpg
Toi Tangata is a display space especially for local, amateur artists to exhibit their art for three weeks.  The art can take any form from paintings to sculpture and any medium.  There is no charge to the artist.  Toi Tangata offers artists the opportunity to showcase their work to approximately 7,000 people (average weekly visitor count) per week.  Artists may work in the space during their allocated exhibition time if they wish.  From the opening in July 2009, a flood of bookings has meant artists need to book early to get in so come into the library or contact us here

Group Visits & Tours

Want to learn more about your library?
A FREE, personalised tour may be just the ticket to find out all
you need to know and how you can make the most of your library.

You’re not alone if you are unsure of where to go for what you need in the library.
It can be very difficult to find the exact item that will help you the most.
You can always ask a staff member to help you and they are more than happy to find a solution to even the most challenging questions.

Your personal tour of the library includes:

A guided tour of the library collections including TeeNZown, kidZone, as well as the first and 2nd floors of the library.  We can customise the tour to suit your (or your group's) specific interest.  For example, an art group may be interested in our Art & Crafts collection, encyclopedias about artists and art history as well as our online databases which cover artworks and artists.

Bring along all those questions you've always wanted to know.
How many books does the library have?
How many people come to the library everyday?
If you work in a library, do you get to read all the books all day?
