Friends of the Rotorua District Library

FOL banner.jpg“A library is not a luxury but one of the necessities of life.”

Henry Ward Beecher

The Friends of the Rotorua District Library were formed in 1991.  The following year they ran a huge booksale in the Sportsdrome and continued to run these biannually until 2002 when the building was renovated and became the Rotorua Energy Events Centre.  Today they run a very successful Book Sale at Kuirau Park every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month.

To date, they have raised thousands of dollars for the Rotorua District Library which has been used to support childrens and teens holiday programmes, visiting authors and guest speakers, the provision of specialty services such as Medianet NZ Film Archive Access, an audio/visual system, furniture, crockery and appliances for the Meeting  Rooms, library shelving and competition prizes.  They also support the library with          man-power whenever asked for tasks such as catering, moving, labelling or packaging.  Their support is always much appreciated by library staff and others.
