Friends of the Library

Rotorua Library is very fortunate to have had the unwavering support of an active Friends of the Library group, hard-working volunteers whose aims are:

  • To promote and support the library
  • To facilitate its use and enjoyment by the public
  • To help to acquire additional resources and services for the library
  • To lobby on behalf of the library
  • To encourage involvement of the community in the activities, needs and progress of the library

Find a bargain

The Friends of the Library sell second-hand, donated and ex-library books at regular Saturday morning sales at Kuirau Park. You'll be surprised to find a vast range of reading material from children's board books, magazines, fiction and non-fiction. There's some real treasures to be found too.

Book Sales at Kuirau Park 2023

Every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month.

Saturday 4th November 9am - 1pm
Saturday 18 November 9am - 1pm
Saturday 2nd December 9am - 1pm
Saturday 16 December * 9am - 1pm
Saturday 6 January 2024 9am - 1pm
Saturday 20 January 2024 9am - 1pm

* Free book giveaway - we are holding a free books giveaway at Kuirau Park on Saturday 16th December between 9am and 1pm. It will be held adjacent to the play ground. There are fiction, non fiction and children's books available. Bring your bags, buckets, boxes and shopping trolleys.The sale room is closed that day.

Join the Friends of the Library

Anyone can join the Friends of the Library and they are always happy to have new members. It costs $10 per year for individual membership and $15 for families. You will also receive the Friends of the Library newsletter.

The Friends of the Library are also looking for able-bodied volunteers to help with picking up and delivering donated books and setting up the book sales. Please contact Patricia at Ph 345 6794.
