Te Reo Wainene ō Tua

Sweet Stories of Yesteryear

Storytelling is the most natural way that all people across all cultures in the world impart traditions, beliefs, life lessons, and customs and practices because our brains are hardwired to process and store information in the form of stories.

In fact, many of the storytelling techniques used thousands of years ago are still applicable today to a wide range of mediums besides the written word. As an oral culture, storytelling in Te Reo Māori is an important facet of embedding cultural knowledge and information from one generation to the next.

Te Reo Wainene ō Tua pays homage to this art of storytelling.

Te Reo Wainene ō Tua is a Te Reo Māori storytelling kaupapa, revitalising pūrākau to activate imaginations and imbue the hearts and minds of Rotorua children with a love of storytelling and Te Reo Māori.

This is an unique opportunity to be part of an inspiring, captivating storytelling event 100% in Te Reo Māori.

Join our passionate storytellers on Friday June 28 at one of our sessions – 9:30am, 11am and 1pm. Te Aka Mauri, Rotorua Library. Koha appreciated. Bookings essential. Contact anahera.sadler@rotorualc.nz
