Public Talk: Te Arawa Lakes Trust
- Start Date 1:00 PM Wednesday 5 March 2025
- End Date 2:00 PM Wednesday 5 March 2025
- Location Rotorua Library, Te Aka Mauri

Join us for this special anniversary talk to learn why the original board was established, and how aspirations have changed over time. Te Arawa Lakes Trust, formerly known as Te Arawa Māori Trust Board, has helped shape progress in Rotorua; in particular, the lakes and surrounding environments to which the culture of Te Arawa hapū and iwi are intrinsically linked.
Te Arawa Lakes Trust stands as a guardian of the 14 lakes within their rohe (tribal estate), safeguarding their wai and taonga species for generations to come. Formed in 1924, the trust board emerged from a long-standing relationship with the crown.
The talk will commence following our "Waiata Mai" event in the Community Pride Space on the ground floor of the Library.
No bookings required.
Waiata Mai: Wednesday 5 March at 12pm.
