Rotorua Library is very fortunate to have had the unwavering support of an active Friends of the Library group, hard-working volunteers whose aims are:
- To promote and support the library
- To facilitate its use and enjoyment by the public
- To help to acquire additional resources and services for the library
- To lobby on behalf of the library
- To encourage involvement of the community in the activities, needs and progress of the library
Join the Friends of the Library
- Anyone can join the Friends of the Library and they are always happy to have new members. There is no charge to be a member. You can also receive the quarterly Friends of the Library newsletter. Email your details to Patricia at kersey@kinect.co.nzThe Friends of the Library are also looking for volunteers to help with picking up and delivering donated books and setting up the book sales. Friends of the Library Book Sales
Kuirau Park
The Friends of the Library sell second-hand books, donated and ex-library books, at regular Saturday morning sales at Kuirau Park. You'll find a vast range of reading material from children's picture and chapter books, magazines, fiction and non-fiction. There's some real treasures to be found.
- Find the book sale down Kuirau Street, in the old tea kiosk by the children's playground. In fine weather books are brought out on tables giving you more space to browse.
- The sale is held every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from 9am - 1pm.
- Please note: EFTPOS is available but no credit cards or cash out.
Buy books at the Library too
The Friends of the Library also stock a great range of pre-loved books at the Library, where you can easily pick up a bargain read or two. These shelves are located near the big Community Pride Screen on the Ground Floor. Most books are only $1 or $2 and include adult fiction, non-fiction and children's books. This selection is constantly updated with a wide range of reading material so remember to check it out next time you visit the Library.
